If you are considering working with Reflective Practice, the first step is to make contact via WhatsApp or by using our contact us form. You do not need to describe everything in detail at this stage. A brief outline of what is prompting you to get in touch is sufficient. I will respond personally and, where appropriate, offer an initial conversation.
The initial conversation is an opportunity for us to talk through what brings you to this point, what you are hoping for, and whether this feels like the right place to do that work. It is also a chance for you to ask questions about how we work, the difference between counselling and coaching, and any practical or ethical considerations. This conversation is not a commitment to ongoing work. Its purpose is to help both of us decide whether working together would be appropriate and helpful.
During the initial conversation, we will discuss whether counselling or executive coaching is the most suitable framework for your needs.
Counselling is usually appropriate when the focus is on emotional wellbeing, relationships, psychological understanding, or the impact of past experience. Executive coaching is more explicitly developmental and often focuses on leadership, responsibility, decision-making, transitions, and sustaining yourself in demanding roles.
The nature of the work will be agreed clearly at the outset and kept under review as it develops.
Sessions are offered on a one-to-one basis, either in person or online. Counselling is usually held weekly and coaching at agreed intervals, depending on your needs and availability. Work may be time-limited or open-ended.
Before work begins, we will agree practical arrangements, including session length, fees, confidentiality, and cancellation terms. This clear contracting provides a secure and transparent foundation for the work.
The work is confidential and conducted in line with professional and ethical standards. The limits of confidentiality will be explained clearly before we begin, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point. We engage in regular professional supervision to support safe, reflective practice.
After the initial conversation, you are encouraged to take time to decide whether you would like to proceed. There is no expectation to commit immediately. Beginning this work should feel considered and appropriate for you. If we decide not to work together, we will, where possible, suggest alternative routes of support.
Most counselling, coaching and supervision sessions are offered online via secure video platforms such as FaceTime, Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Online work can be as effective as in-person work when conducted thoughtfully. We will periodically review together whether this format remains suitable for you.
Sessions are confidential and conducted in line with professional ethical standards (including BACP guidance where applicable). I use encrypted platforms wherever possible; however, as with all digital communication, absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Clients are asked to:
If connection fails, we will attempt to reconnect. If this is not possible, we will revert to telephone or reschedule as appropriate.
